We have several tier one global law firms who have agreed to accept KEY tokens for a large part of their work.

Appleby’s is leading our deal and has offices in Cayman, Mauritius and Hong Kong — the primary locations where the transaction and ongoing operations will take place. They are the world’s largest offshore law firm.

On Appleby’s team we have two exceptionally talented lawyers leading the way in Cayman — who — along with the rest of the legal team, designed and implemented the corporate structure. Peter Colegate is a personal data privacy thought leader, having pioneered and pretty much built the practice in HK office of Hogan Lovells from scratch. Samuel Banks is a partner who is a blockchain expert.

SilkLegal is a Thai based firm who does a lot of Token Sales work. On the team is Don Chaiynos Sornumpol, a US barred attorney in New York who drafted our legal opinion alongside Eduard Sato, and Dr. Jason Corbett — who is a qualified lawyer in both Canada and Australia.

Eduard Sato. Ed makes us feel comfortable because he worries so much. He thinks about all of the potential downside risks, and has a unique ability to think of risk/reward on a sliding scale. He is a former Baker Mckenzie San Francisco and has had his share of Silicon Valley deal flow. He now lives in Asia and is a crypto enthusiast, who has participated in several token sales as a participant and understands the space exceptionally well.

Corey Harris. Corey is a US attorney barred in several states with ridiculous qualifications. The guy speaks more languages than me (saying something) He has multiple degrees, can speak fluent Spanish, and is generally just a really talented guy who was very helpful in pulling our documents together.

Dr. Gordon Walker is one of the most well known lawyers in Asia Pacific. He is a legend of the structuring game and a damn good man to have a beer with. He must have intelligence in his genes as his daughter Julia Walker is head of Risk for Asia Pacific at Thomson Reuters.

Phil Hogden is one of the preeminent minds on international taxation, in particular with foreign foundations and trusts. Since we utilized both a foundation and a trust, it made sense to pull in Phil. He is joined by Haoshen Zhong, whose mind for the complexities of the US tax code is unparalleled.
